If you do decide to upgrade iOS 10, install the developer preview of iOS 10, :
  1. Using Safari on the device you want to update to iOS 10, go to developer.apple.com, tap on Account and sign in using your Apple ID and password. (If you haven't signed up for a developer account, go and enrol.)
  2. Tap on Discover (along the top) and then tap iOS. Tap the blue Download button at the top right.
  3. iOS 10 is third on the list. You'll have to tap the chevron on the right to expand its view; the best option now is to tap Download next to the Configuration Profile - the first option. (You can select a larger download for your specific model of device, but they are larger downloads and intended for when you download to a Mac first and then sync across to your device. Stick with the Config Profile.)
  4. Now go into Settings, General, Software Update. From this point on installing the iOS 10 developer preview is just like updating iOS normally - just follow the prompts and agree to the various terms & conditions. At one point in the process you'll be prompted to restart the device.

iOS 10 Features

iOS 10 was introduced at the WWDC on June 13, 2016, with iOS 10.0 beta 1 being made available to registered developers straight after the keynote, and a public beta made available to members of Apple's Beta Software Program "sometime this summer".  Here the iOS 10 Features :

1. iOS 10 Home
Home (not to be confused with the iOS home screen) is a newly introduced application that allows a user to manage smart home devices that use HomeKit, Apple's API for these devices. From the app, a user can turn on lights, unlock doors, and perform several other actions. A "Scenes" panel allows many devices to be controlled at once to fit a mood or setting. Geo-fencing can also determine when a user arrives at their house and perform actions scheduled by the user.

2. iOS 10 Messages
Messages has been improved in iOS 10, with a new rich media system being added that allows users to embed YouTube links and other web content without leaving the app. "Bubble effects" can now change the way text messages are displayed to a contact. Other smaller features have been included, such as a "tapback" system for quick replies, handwritten messages, and a revamped camera prompt.

The improvements made to Messages in iOS 10 have spurred discussion of a "messaging war" between Apple and competitors such as Facebook's chat feature and Google's newly-developed messaging app Allo.

3. iOS 10 Siri
Siri on iOS 10 has received improvements in the release, with a new SDK allowing developers of third-party apps to integrate their services within Siri.

4. iOS 10 Maps
Maps has also been updated with additional intelligence features, such as a feature that can scan calendars for places and learn from a user's typical actions, as well as a new dynamic view for driving directions. A marker can now also be automatically placed on the map indicating where the user's car is parked.

5. iOS 10 Music
Music has been redesigned, the redesign placing an emphasis on usability and simplicity. The "For You" tab has been upgraded, with a new playlist based on recommendations for the user being displayed daily. A new tab for "downloaded music" is included. Lyrics will also be viewable on-screen in iOS 10.

6 iOS 10 Photos
Photos can now shoot RAW images using third-party apps, allowing more precise control over the detail of captured photos. In addition, the app has gained deep learning capabilities for sorting and search, with a newly expanded "Memories" feature automatically recognising photos taken over a similar timespan and creating short videos to music that can be shared with friends. Facial recognition is also used to group together pictures.

7.Other improvements of iOS 10
A new "Rise to Wake" feature has been added to the lock screen, which turns on the iPhone's screen as the user lifts the device. Arriving notifications can also now be interacted with using 3D Touch, a hardware-based input method introduced with the iPhone 6S.The Control Center introduced in iOS 7 has been redesigned to comprise two panes; one devoted to general controlling (such as the enabling and disabling of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) and one devoted to music controls.

The default applications included with iOS devices can now be deleted and re-downloaded from the App Store. Some apps are still unable to be removed, however, such as Messages, Photos, and Camera. This feature follows a September 2015 interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook, in which he stated that Apple was "looking at" allowing customers to delete rarely used default apps.

iOS 10 Supported devices
With iOS 10, Apple has dropped support for all A5 chip devices, namely the iPhone 4S, iPod Touch (5th generation), iPad 2, iPad (3rd generation), and the iPad Mini (1st generation), making it the first major iOS release since iOS 8 to drop support for older devices.
